What the hell is “Karaoke Unplugged”?

Karaoke Unplugged, Volume 1

Karaoke Unplugged, Volume 1, from DigiTrax Karaoke

So maybe you’ve seen one of these out there in karaoke-land, and wondered just what the hell is going on with this set of classic songs that have been re-cut with all-new instrumentation and  vocals.

Some of us who sing karaoke (okay, all of us) get tired of hearing the same songs with the same arrangements over and over again. You know the songs I mean – the ones that are done every karaoke night at least three times (I’m looking at you, Picture).

So, into this breach steps DigiTrax Karaoke, with a radical new reading on these classic tunes. Here’s a list:

  • Ain’t No Sunshine
  • Hey Ya!
  • Billie Jean
  • Crazy
  • Just My Imagination
  • Stand By Me

See some familiar stuff there? Oh yeah. Well, you’ve never heard these songs done as acoustic arrangements before, recorded with real instruments played by first-call studio musicians.

So say you’re tired of the same old karaoke routine and want something different. Even better, suppose you’re competing in a karaoke contest and need something to help you stand out from the crowd. This is where you’d turn for that.

And there’s a new volume just out as well:

Karaoke Unplugged Volume 2

This one includes:

  • Ain’t Too Proud To Beg
  • I Heard It Through The Grapevine
  • Lean On Me
  • Let’s Get It On
  • Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong

Both of these puppies come with a lead vocal version of each song too. That’ll help you get your phrasing and timing down for the new tempos. You can check them both out now on Karaoke Cloud.
