Karaoke Thankfulness: True Friends

Joined Hands

This time of year we always talk about “friends and family” and there’s a reason that we put them together in the same category. I don’t know about you, but there have been times when I felt closer to my best friends than I did members of my own family. Sure, sometimes we drive each other crazy, but we’re always there for each other through thick and thin.

The fact of the matter is that we all need a little help now and then. When we’re down and out and feeling like we’re about to fall apart, who’s there to pick up the pieces? When your girlfriend breaks up with you, who forces your lazy depressed butt to get up and get dressed then takes you to the strip club? When your boyfriend says it’s over, who takes you shopping until you’re ready to collapse from exhaustion? True friends point us toward to light at the end of the tunnel even when we might not be able to see it for ourselves.

Variety is the spice of life and our friends definitely come in all shapes and sizes. There’s the “work buddy,” the only person at the office you can tell that one joke to without fear of a lawsuit. The “dependable one” who will bail you out of jail after a night of having just a little too much fun. The “best friend” who can’t bail you out because he/she is sitting right next to you in the slammer. Then there are “the ones we don’t talk about.” Most of us have at least one of these friends. They may not be the best in social situations and it probably wouldn’t be a great idea for them to spend too much time with your family telling stories (which you later vehemently deny), but they would do anything for you and the feeling is mutual.

Other than family there are no more important people in our lives than our friends. During this season of Thanksgiving make sure that they realize just how much you care about them. After all, as an old Sicilian saying puts it, “friends are the family you choose for yourself.”

KaraokeOnVEVO Surpasses Quarter-Million Mark in 6 Months!

In October of last year (2012) DigiTrax Entertainment tentatively launched its YouTube channel KaraokeOnVEVO. Though the site was then “officially” up, the interactive media powerhouse didn’t begin adding content until May, 2013. Since that time KaraokeOnVEVO (KOV) has surged to over 225k subscribers and more than 65 million views, a feat almost unheard of without significant marketing or advertising.

“KaraokeOnVEVO was initially a test product, an ‘alpha release,’ if you will,” stated David Grimes, marketing and public relations manager for DigiTrax Entertainment. “And, to a great extent, it still is! After the initial set-up we spent the next six months or so testing out the technology and working on the back-end with special licensing details, which are never simple.” Now that KOV includes over 5,500 hit songs form the Karaoke Cloud catalog, with 30-40 new songs being added every month, “It’s beginning to snowball,” continued Mr. Grimes. “We’ve spent practically no money promoting this product and we’ve earned over a quarter of a million subscribers and 65 million views by word-of-mouth alone.”

A “test” product with 225k subscribers?! Holy $#@&! Those of you who have been following this blog for a while know what KaraokeOnVEVO is all about: good times! 5,500 songs available anywhere and anytime you have access to YouTube? Sure doesn’t seem like a “test” program to me, but when you consider the fact that Karaoke Cloud includes more than twice that many songs it’s hard to imagine how much the KaraokeOnVEVO channel will grow as DigiTrax continues to develop and add to it.

“Play a Tab” And Peavey: Avengers Assembled!

Capt. America Guitar

DigiTrax Entertainment LLC, the industry leaders in digital interactive music, are preparing to roll out their newest innovative product, Play a Tab. This easy-to-use interactive guitar learning system is perfect for beginners of all ages who harbor aspirations of becoming the next rock legend. Peavey has already reached said status in the music industry as one of the world’s premier creators of acoustic/electric guitars and studio equipment. It only makes sense that these two giants would eventually join forces and they are doing so alongside “Earth’s Mightiest Heroes” as Play a Tab will be packaged with Peavey’s new line of Marvel-licensed guitars.

It’s almost impossible to find a hotter product than Marvel right now. “The Avengers” set box office records by bringing in $400 million in 14 days according to deadline.com. It’s also the highest grossing Disney release ever and the #6 highest grossing film domestically of all time. I mean, how do you top that? Maybe by putting all of your top characters’ faces on some of the finest made guitars in the world.

Peavey-Marvel-Rockmaster-Guitar

These guitars are absolutely beautiful and a must-have for any Marvel fan worth his/her salt. Now here’s the kicker. Rather than buying one (or 10) of these amazing instruments and just slapping it on a wall somewhere to collect dust, you can actually learn how to play the thing thanks to the ingenious Play a Tab system pre-packaged with your guitar! Who knows? Like Thor, maybe one day you will be a legend in the pantheon of rock gods.

Peavey’s line of 3/4 and full size Marvel guitars are available now with the Play a Tab-inclusive versions due for release in the very near future. Also, be sure to keep an eye out for more amazing officially licensed products from Peavey such as “The Walking Dead,” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!”

Karaoke Thankfulness: Family Ties

Family

It’s that time of year when we count our blessings and really think about those closest to us. Those that support us, lift us up, and stand beside us when times are hard. And, yes, these are also the same people who often annoy and embarrass us. It’s all part of the fun that is the family.

These chilly autumn nights are the perfect time to gather the family together indoors and spend some much needed time just goofing off and singing until your heart’s content. Remember, it’s all about being thankful for the loved ones in your life. It’s not a karaoke competition at your local bar so don’t worry about your talent level (or lack thereof), forget about looking a little silly, and put your heart into it!

Now, at the risk of drawing the ire of those readers who hate going to the mall in the middle of November and seeing Christmas decorations everywhere, you have to admit that nothing says family like traditional Christmas songs. There’s also no better way to get the kids involved, so have at it!

There is nothing more important than family, and yes, that includes Uncle Bob who nobody ever wants to talk about for some reason. With the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday be sure to let your loved ones know how much you care. After all, we all need a little love…

Enjoy these and thousands of other hit songs with Karaoke Cloud and Karaoke On VEVO, and be sure to check out the Sing-N-Share app due for release on iOS and Android mobile devices in the coming weeks.

Sing-N-Share: Putting the “#” in #merrychristmas

There is no medium more powerful than music when it comes to expressing our feelings to our friends and family. Social media has made it possible to do this pretty much anywhere and at anytime. Now Sing-N-Share is adding a personal touch by allowing users to not only share meaningful songs on their favorite social media site, but to record those songs in their own voice.

social media 4

Think about it. Your job has forced you to move hundreds of miles from home and you can’t get the time off to visit for the holidays. Your husband or wife is in the military and deployed overseas through the first of the year. Are your loved ones more likely to appreciate an uploaded YouTube video of your favorite Christmas tune or the same song sung by you, personalized just for them, and posted to their Facebook wall for everyone to see? Sing-N-Share makes it easy to show those closest to you that you’re thinking about them regardless of where they are.

Since the Sing-N-Share app is 100% cost free to consumers, thanks to the fact that it is totally ad-supported by LiveRail, it also makes for a very cost-effective way to share your holiday greetings with friends and family all around the world. In an article posted on Investopedia.com, author Amanda Haury stated that according to the American Research Group “In 2011, the average American spent $646 on holiday gifts. In 2012, it is expected that the average American will be spending $854 in gifts for friends and loved ones.” Keep in mind that this was just the cost for gifts and did not include decorations, travel expenses, holiday cards, or food. It is unclear how much Americans will be spending in 2013, but if the trend continues it will be even more than last year. Sing-N-Share just might help cut the corners on that hefty budget so you don’t have a “Blue Christmas.”

The Sing-N-Share app will be available soon for both iOS and Android based mobile devices. In the mean time, be sure to check out Karaoke Cloud and KaraokeOnVEVO for more of your favorite Christmas carols and contemporary Christmas songs.

Heeeeeeere’s Jonny! The scoop on Play a Tab’s front-man.

JS on Set

With DigiTrax Entertainment’s Play a Tab guitar learning system about to hit the market, we feel there’s no time like the present to get to know the face of Play a Tab, musical prodigy and entrepreneur Jonathan (Jonny) Sexton.

There is no more important aspect of an instructional program than the person chosen to pass on the information itself. When DigiTrax Entertainment began the development process for its upcoming Play a Tab guitar instructional system there was no doubt that Jonathan Sexton would be their number one guy.

PaT-teaser-2

Born and raised in the small town of Seymour, Tennessee, Jonathan has been playing guitar since the age of fifteen. Though destined for a career in music, Jonny took some time before plunging head-first into the industry to pursue another heart-felt dream, that of an educator. Graduating from the University of Tennessee, Jonny spent his next four years as a kindergarten teacher before an opportunity in Nashville provided the chance he needed to chase after his first love — music.

Now the front-man for his own band, Jonathan Sexton and the Big Love Choir, Jonny has also made a big name for himself in the music industry as an entrepreneur with the development of his own music management software app, Artist Growth. This revolutionary app won the 2012 MTV Music Award for “Best Music App” and is currently being used by industry leaders such as Vector Management, BMI, and Spalding Entertainment Group.

JS and Big Love Choir

With credentials like these is it any wonder why DigiTrax chose Jonathan as the face of their new Play a Tab system? Aspiring musicians of all ages will be able to learn quickly and easily as Jonathan takes them step by step through all the basics such as how to hold a pick, proper hand placement, and strumming. He guides users effortlessly through how to play the basic chords giving students the ability to play hundreds of songs which are included in the system.

Play a Tab will be available soon so if you’ve always wanted to learn how to play guitar, here’s your chance!

Take the party anywhere! This mobile karaoke app allows users unrestricted access to DigiTrax’s full catalog of over 12,000 hit songs (with ten new titles being added every week) and can be accessed anywhere at anytime. All tracks are organized by genre and are searchable by either title or artist. Better yet, the app is completely ad supported through LiveRail. This means that customers’ unprecedented access to these titles and all of the app’s features is 100% cost free. Though MTV Media research has indicated that members of the Millennial Generation are extremely receptive to specifically-targeted pre-roll advertising, those users who prefer instant access to the app’s content can eliminate all ads through the purchase of a reasonably-priced premium version.

Disco 1

Sing-N-Share combines the best of interactive music with convenience of social media. Users have the option of recording their karaoke performances, either solo or with friends, saving it to the cloud or their mobile device, and then uploading it directly to Facebook or Twitter. This allows users to share the fun with friends and family all around the world.

Peripheral devices are also supported by the Sing-N-Share app. It powers both the Sing-N-Share Pro Portable Mic and the soon-to-be-released Sing-N-Jam mixer for iOS and Android. Both of these mobile accessories are developed by Acesonic USA.

All of these features will be available to users on the app’s pending release with many more innovations already in the works for future updates. DigiTrax will be releasing the Sing-N-Share app in the coming weeks.

Lightning Strikes…Again! Pearl Jam returns with “Lightning Bolt.”

Lightning Bolt

In 1991 Pearl Jam exploded onto the music scene with their debut album “Ten,” quickly becoming one of the hottest rock bands in the country and placing themselves firmly at the forefront of the grunge movement. Now, twenty-two years later, the gods of grunge have returned to release what is, ironically, their tenth studio album, “Lightning Bolt.”

There is no doubt that Pearl Jam’s presence and style has matured over the last two decades, but with riffs from original guitarists Stone Gossard and Mike McCready and the stirring vocals of front man Eddie Vedder, “Lightning Bolt” brings back memories of cargo shorts, flannel shirts and unkempt hair.

Thanks in part to Pearl Jam’s stellar rise to the top of the rock industry, other bands stormed onto the scene, further fueling teenage angst and insuring that grunge (sometimes referred to as the “Seattle sound”) reigned supreme as the most popular music genre of the mid-90’s.

The late 90’s saw the premature decline of grunge with many of the more prominent bands breaking up, not to mention the tragic death of Nirvana front-man Kurt Cobain. This gave rise to what many called the “post-grunge” era which saw the birth of more commercially viable groups such as Bush, Matchbox Twenty, and Nickelback.

Regardless of how you would classify today’s music era, Pearl Jam is still here and still rocking hard. Get “Lightning Bolt” on Amazon.com or iTunes and be sure to check out Karaoke Cloud and KaraokeOnVEVO, where you can sing along with thousands of your favorite tracks from all genres!

What Is “Sing-N-Jam?”

Sing-N-Jam_Apple-Store_right-new

It’s plain that DigiTrax Entertainment LLC (DTE), the industry leaders behind such services as Karaoke Cloud and KaraokeOnVEVO, have made it their mission to ensure that the fun of karaoke is both affordable and easily accessible to the masses. With an incomparable catalog of over 12,000 songs available on both Karaoke Cloud and the soon to be released mobile app “Sing-N-Share,” DTE has made it possible to take the party virtually anywhere. Now they are placing their considerable technological know-how behind Acesonic USA’s newest product, “Sing-N-Jam,” soon to be the hottest item in interactive music.

1381930_54148168

Just looking at the packaging it’s apparent that there’s something different about this karaoke peripheral. A microphone that will connect to any mobile device with a headphone jack is impressive enough, but what’s the deal with the guitar? Will we be able to play as well as sing along with any of the songs in DTE’s expansive library? Is a guitar the only instrument we’ll be able to connect? What’s “Play-A-Tab” and how does it relate to this product?

Yeah…lot’s of questions left to be answered! Thankfully, DigiTrax has promised that all of these questions and more will be answered in the coming weeks as the roll-out for this amazing product draws ever nearer.

Every Day Should Be Veterans Day: A patriotic top-5!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Patriotism in the United States reaches a climax around this time every year. Every Veterans Day we all take the time to remember those who have fought and paid the ultimate price for the freedoms we enjoy every single day, just as we should. I personally could not be prouder of our men and women in uniform, past and present. So why am I posting this blog the day after Veterans Day? To make this point: Every day should be Veterans Day! One day just isn’t enough. We should never forget those who have gone before or those who will sacrifice everything tomorrow. We should be eternally grateful and show that appreciation continuously.

In that spirit of thankfulness, we present to you (in no particular order) five of the most beloved patriotic songs in history.

And we start with…the Boss. Bruce Springsteen may be a karaoke holdout (not allowing his iconic songs to be licensed for karaoke), but it’s impossible to deny that “Born In The USA” is, without a doubt, as American as it gets.

In 1985 James Brown released a monumental single that became a pop-culture phenomenon. “Living in America” was featured prominently in the movie “Rocky IV” with the Godfather himself performing the song flanked by showgirls, American flags, and fireworks. I ask you, does it get more patriotic than that?

I’ll never forget the first time I heard Lee Greenwood belt out his most beloved song “God Bless The USA” at a live event in Sevierville, TN. I’m not a very emotional person, but I’m not afraid to admit that night my eyes welled up. Amazing song…amazing tribute.

So far we’ve heard from the Boss, the Godfather, and one of the great patriots. Now it’s time to listen to the King. Written by country singer/songwriter Mickey Newbury, “An American Trilogy” was made famous (huge understatement) by Elvis Presley who incorporated it as a regular part of his concert routine in the 1970’s. Take a little time and pay tribute to both the King and our great nation…

Rounding out our list in the High Priest, Brother Ray! America is all about soul and no one embodies soul more than Motown great Ray Charles. Leaving his rendition of “America The Beautiful” off this list would be like leaving syrup off of pancakes; un-American!

I hope you all had a wonderful Veterans Day, but please remember to keep the men and women of our armed forces in your thoughts and prayers every day of the year.
