Taylor Swift the Copy Cat

As many know, Taylor Swift claims to write all of her songs herself. Recently, however, some copyright allegations have come out against her making all of us wonder, is her success due to the creative work of others?

Swift is a singer and songwriter loved and hated by many. In 2014, Swift released one of her hit songs “Shake It Off” and recently released another song that soared to number one on the charts, “Look What You Made Me Do”.

T-Swift has been quite successful in her career thus far, but are things about to change?

In 2015, Swift faced a whopping $42 million-dollar lawsuit following the allegations that her “Shake It Off” song lyrics were “unoriginal” and “copyrighted”. In November of 2015, a California judge dismissed the lawsuit.

Being constantly in the spotlight and as high up in the music industry as Swift is, can also bring negative attention and cause some people to go after her fortune that she has earned over the course of her music career.

But since the 2015 lawsuit, every song Swift releases has been put under the microscope. Her claim of originality is now constantly under fire. Since the incident, she has actually lost some fans, but many still stand by Swift.
